Heart Shaped Cookies

Try this easy-to-make sour cream and butter cookies. Decorate with strawberries or with a little bit of glaze for a nice presentation.

1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 egg
3 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of butter, softened
15 oz sour cream
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt

Makes 45 cookies.

Put the flour in a medium-sized bowl, making a crater in the center of the bowl, then add all other ingredients. Mix well.

On a floured board, knead the dough until all of the ingredients are completely mixed up and the dough is smooth.

Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut out the heart pattern with a 2.2 inch heart-shaped cookie cutter.

Place each piece separately on a greased cookie sheet, 1 inch apart.

Or transfer cookies to a baking parchment-lined baking sheet. Place a slice of strawberry on top of each cookie to form a heart in the center.

Bake in a preheated 420 F oven until lightly browned (10 minutes for 1/2 inch thick cookies).

Cover each strawberry cookie with honey using a small paint brush when you just take the cookies out of the oven. Alternatively, if you are not using strawberries, use colored glaze to decorate the cookies when they cool off completely.
